Hi there! I'm Asjad - I’m currently working as a data scientist at UNSW. Prior to joining the organization, I worked with Invertigro, a vertical farming startup based in Sydney.
Education
I first learned to program in high school using GW-BASIC, and ever since, I’ve been passionate about computer science and technology. That passion led me to earn a Ph.D. in Computer Science with a focus on applied machine learning. I also have an advanced Master’s degree from the University of Wollongong. My academic research focused on designing intelligent systems to support execution of knowledge-intensive processes and help make better decisions under uncertainty. My Ph.D. training taught me how to conduct original research, think independently, and contribute new ideas to the field.
Industry
As a technologist, I’m passionate about translating cutting-edge technology into practical, real-world solutions. My industry experience includes collaborating with core teams at several high-growth startups to deliver data products and machine learning solutions across a range of data-intensive domains. Over the past decade, I’ve built production-ready Data and AI systems that address complex challenges in areas such as Business Process Analytics, Semantic Search, and Natural Language Processing. I enjoy creating solutions that combine rigorous research with practical application to deliver measurable business value.
Research
My research projects investigated the use of emerging machine learning technologies for building process analytic applications that support effective decision-making under uncertainty. My publications in top-tier conferences demonstrate my ability to ask meaningful research questions, analyze academic literature, identify research gaps, design experiments, interpret results, and validate findings.
See Google Scholar and blogs about my papers.
